Taree & District Model Railway Club is an organisation of modellers who are interested in model railways of all scales and gauges, both of Australian and Overseas prototypes. It is a very strong club with over 50 members and is 100% affiliated with the National Model Railroad Association (NMRA), a worldwide organisation promoting the hobby. Our aim is to foster an interest in the hobby and to assist all those who are interested at the local level.
We meet each Wednesday and Saturday at the Club Rooms opposite Taree Railway Station in a dedicated building that houses our variety of layouts, from the smallest N-Gauge to our very latest, using the new DCC technology, with all the sounds, bells and lights that adds realism like never before.
Our members are a diverse group of individuals, each with their own particular interests and skills, from track laying, electrical, computer CAD design & operations, model building, scratch-building, scenery construction, artistic flair, prototype knowledge...the list goes on. They wish to improve and expand the hobby through mutual effort and there is an atmosphere of fellowship and camaraderie which offers the membership an opportunity to communicate, develop and share their skills.
The Club offers a range of experiences including a vast resource of reference materials for its members, organised rail trips and excursions, inter-club visits, group visits to exhibitions and a fun-filled social calendar.
The majority of our members now model Australian in HO, with the wealth of quality models and products coming onto the scene. Most have their own home layout, and members take it in turns to conduct operating sessions for their counterparts to enjoy and glean fresh ideas.
The Club opens its doors to the public on Saturdays, but also conducts special exhibitions throughout the year, which are always well patronised.
We are always on the lookout for new members and they can be assured of a cordial welcome.
